The labor market

A snapshot of residents at work and jobs on payrolls.

The Bureau of Labor Statistics’ September 2026 Delaware snapshot reports a 4.6% seasonally adjusted unemployment rate, preliminary. The civilian labor force was 504.7 thousand and resident employment was 481.4 thousand. Nonfarm payroll employment was 495.8 thousand. These series differ: labor-force measures count people; payroll employment counts jobs. Do not subtract one series from the other.
